I’m so excited to announce the first New York City “Lights. Camera. Manual!” class, an Introduction to Photography.  I fell in love with teaching this class last month as a fundraiser in South Carolina.  I’ve since had several requests to hold classes in New York so I went in search for a place to have our small class that provides ample space to learn. I found it and the NYC class was born!

Do you have a fancy DSLR camera and only use the automatic settings?!? Come join me for the first NYC photography class on Saturday, March 2, 2013 from 10-3pm in Midtown West.  We will have 3-4 hours of hands on instruction using your DSLR camera and 1-2 hours of actual shooting outdoors to put your skills to the test. I will cover manual settings, the basics of a proper exposure, focusing and basics of light. You will never use that automatic mode again and change the way you see your photography.

There will only be 10 spots available to keep the class small, increasing the amount of time we can spend on questions and truly understanding the fundamentals. It doesn’t matter what kind of camera you have (Canon, Nikon, Olympus…), just bring your manual and I’ll show you the ropes.  It is going to be a lot of fun so you don’t want to miss it.

All of the students in the last class saw a big improvement in their images from the beginning of class to the end. Here is a great example from Kerry! The Before is using an automatic mode and the After is using Manual settings.
